Canadian Cardiovascular Congress (CCC) 2009

This year’s Canadian Cardiovascular Congress (CCC) unfolds in Alberta’s picturesque capital city, Edmonton. From its humble beginnings as a North West Company fur trading post in 1795, Edmonton has emerged on the National and World scene as a cultural capital, environmental leader, and political force: lest Canadians forget, it was Edmonton’s own Emily Murphy (along with four other women) who, in 1929, was victorious in having Canadian women declared “persons” under the law. Also known as Canada’s Festival City, Edmonton is home to Canada’s largest living history park, as well as the stunning 24-foot man-made Great Divide Waterfall.

The incomparable Shaw Conference Centre (SCC) will welcome CCC guests from October 24-28, 2009. Construction of the SCC was one of the largest soil and rock excavations ever undertaken in the world to accommodate a building. Approximately 70% of the SCC is located underground. This burrowing conceals the fact that the building is more than 10 storeys high. The SCC is a BOMA Go Green certified venue committed to responsible environmental practices.
