Dear colleagues,

I wanted to inform you about the new Internet project named openECGproject.
The openECGproject is essentially an online community conceived around a simple, but challenging and worthy goal - to develop an open source hardware and software solution for electrocardiography. More precisely, to develop an open source, low cost, and clinically functional 12-lead PC-based ECG with interpretive software.

The idea was conceived to help those hospitals and doctors, mainly from the Third World, who cannot afford similar currently available and expensive commercial products. Development of a free alternative could, I believe, have a profound impact on health care not just in poor countries, but in others too.

The whole project is philanthropic and depends on the efforts of volunteers who want to make a difference. Anyone can help, so be sure to visit the site, http://www.open-ecg-project.org, promote it and recommend it to others.

Thank you.

Best of Luck! Nice Idea.
This is great, thanks for making us aware of the open-ecg-project. Organizations like this whose sole purpose is to help countries who can't afford inflated health care costs are far and few between. I ran across another website called www.webpax.com (http://www.webpax.com) which is trying to lower health care costs by distributing medical images online. I wrote them to see if they would accept xml ecg files and though they said they can't yet, they currently have a really easy way to upload dicoms.

Thanks,
Brian
Thanks for the site recommendation Brian. I uploaded a couple of echoes I had and they look pretty good. I guess they allow you to store your DICOMs indefinitely also. I did share them with some of my colleagues, so I can see how it would reduce costs.

What did they say about ECG? We've done a lot with the xml standard and I'm curious to know how far off they are. Will they provide a facility for sharing the ECGs like they are sharing DICOM?

Thanks,
Larry.
cool
Dear Ivor Kovic

I have recently launched a website aimed at Cardiac Physiologists/Technologists called www.sourcemedical.co.uk. As you are aware, cardiac technolgists are some of the main users of ECG technology. I hope you don't mind but I have uploaded some of your information about the openECGproject as I'm sure the users will find it interesting and it may even help you with your recruiting.

Kind regards
Sharon
Dear Sharon,

I took a look at your website. Very interesting, I register and will follow it in the future.
Thank you for promoting us.

Best regards,
Ivor
